Thing #3

I hope to be a middle school language arts teacher. In my future classroom I will be able to use blogs instead of handwritten journals. Journals are a good way for students to release personal thoughts in a safe setting. It also help to get their creative juices stirring. An online blog would be better suited for my students because they spend time on their computers throughout the day, giving them ample opportunity to post. Also, many students prefer to type over writing.

  1. I am hoping to be a middle school language arts teacher as well. I agree with you whole heartedly about journaling. Blogging is the future of journaling. I think that students would love the idea because its new and fresh. They are always up for a little challenge and will of course very much enjoy the technology aspect of it.

  3. I also plan to teach middle school language arts and I think that having students blog instead of create journals is a fabulous idea! I think students will relate to the technology more than typical journals and will create a sense of community in the classroom as an added bonus!
